In support of Mr. Barella, whose son is sadly suffering from Leukemia, the school voted to support the Great North Children’s Hospital where he is being treated. Over the year, many events raised funds for the charity, in particular the work with Virgin Money ‘Make £5 grow’, where Y6 pupils used £5 each to create a range of products and stalls, raising £942. Another big contribution came from 12 staff who were sponsored to climb Scarfell (the highest mountain in England), raising £1091. In total, £2095 was sent to the hospital at the end of the year.
