Welcome from the Friends of St. margaret's

As a parent at the School you are automatically a member and we look forward to you joining the Friends community.  You can get involved in whatever way you can to support our efforts to raise funds for the School and promote friendship amongst our members.

Below you will find details of the Trustees who work with a much larger team of active Friends and school staff who put a huge amount of time and effort into organising social events and fundraising all year round.

Please get in touch if you would like more information, or to contribute in any way:

Jo Jakeman – Secretary and Communications.

I joined the Friends of St Margaret’s in September 2016 as secretary and to help with communications work.  My role involves writing the meeting agendas, taking minutes, distributing key documents, updating the Facebook page, sending out reminders for events and helping to design the content for our webpage.  More recently I have also been exploring grant funding opportunities to support the monies raised by the Friends and the School.  I am Mum to Connie (Y4) and Samuel, who is due to start school in September 2017.  I feel very privileged to be able to support the school in this way and look forward to its continued success.

Elizabeth Scott – Chair of the Friends of St Margaret’s School

I took over as Chair of the Friends in September 2016 having spent several years in the role of Secretary. All of my children currently attend St Margaret’s including Madeline Y6, Donovan and Izaak Y4 and Francesca YR. It is my job to coordinate the fantastic work that the Friends do, Chair our meetings, help out with the varied programme of fundraising events and initiatives and liaise between the Friends and the School. I am fortunate in having great people to work with in helping the School maintain a first class environment for our children to thrive.

Karen Worrall - Treasurer

I have enjoyed getting to know other parents, and seeing the children have fun, as I have attended and helped at various Friends events since my daughter joined the school. This is my third year as Treasurer and I am responsible for ensuring that all the funds raised by the charity are promptly and safely deposited at the bank, that the expenses of volunteers are reimbursed, and that the school receives the grants that the Committee have agreed. I prepare the annual accounts (that are reviewed by an independent examiner) and submit the annual return to the Charity Commission.

Fed up of ironing-on/sewing name labels onto school stuff?

The Friends of St Margaret’s are pleased to recommend Stamptastic Limited, which supplies personalised name stamps for use on fabric, wood, metal and some plastics. A lot of our parents use and recommend their products and now Stamptastic will give our school 30% cashback on all orders made using the code STMAR at the checkout.  Here's the link to their website:
