School Council

At St Margaret’s Primary school, we respect and value the fundamental British values of democracy and ensure the views and opinions of our pupils are expressed. During Autumn Term, the children elect school council members from Years 1-6 and Reception children are given opportunities to discuss school issues with their teachers. All pupils are invited to stand as School Council representatives and are voted for fairly and democratically by their peers. The Chair and Vice Chair are then voted for by the elected members of the School Council. We also nominate a Chief Administration Officer to record minutes for the school to view.

The School Council meets regularly to discuss issues raised by the children after they have led discussions with their own class, with the focus on ideas to help improve our school even further. We believe our School Council are very effective in helping bring about positive changes to the life of our school!

If you have any ideas or suggestions to help improve our school, please see your class council reps. We encourage you to use your class suggestion box or to write your class book. Your Representatives will then bring your suggestions to the school council meeting. Your thoughts are important to us and impact the school!
